Favorite Things/ To Do List

Wow, it makes my day to hear someone finally acknowledge Mommmy-hood.

My favorite Christmas Present.

I really should say it's the WiiFit, and it's definately in the running, but out of all my gifts it's this one that really makes me happy. My Mum-in-law really got this gift right and I am sooooooooo grateful she did!

My Rice Cooker

Sandy always asks what we want for Christmas and I had this on my "Curt, here's what you can buy me" list. But then I remembered Sandy's Rice Cooker and how the rice always turns out perfect, so I passed the request on to her. I LOVE THIS MACHINE!

In my efforts to lose weight and cook more healthy for my family, this has been the so nice to have. We just made brown rice tonight and it was so nice, fluffy and wasn't hard (texture) at all. It tasted so good that the kids told me that they like brown rice better than white (WOW?!?!?!?!). You can even make cakes and casseroles in this! I made an apple stuffing/pork casserole and it was amazing! How did I ever live without this?!?

So , here it goes... THANK YOU MUM-IN-LAW for the most wonderful present!

So, there was this anniversary...

We hit our 14th Anniversary on the 7th.

For those of you who don't know, when Curt and I got married, we decided to do our anniversaries where Curt would be in charge of one year and I would be in charge of the next. It's been awesome and we have shared some wonderful times together. What we do for the evening is a surprise and we have learned not to ask what the other is planning.

So, for this year, I was stumped. So, I thought back on our favorite places and decided to take him somewhere we hadn't gone for a while.

We went to Carraba's, one of our favorites

Okay, so I knew how it ended, but it was still such a good movie if you're WWII movie people like Curt and I.

We felt like there was just something missing so we stopped by here


for this wonderful object of desire.

He always has to have his with Whipped Cream, Bananas and Hot Fudge. Super yum.

Needless, to say... we had a great time! Happy Anniversary Honey.

Crazy Fun, Crazy Christmas

We had so much fun this Christmas.

We did so many things to get ready for Christmas. I found this year was so much fun after I got into it. We had Christmas purchased in November so all
we had to do was wait for "The Day". On Christmas Eve morning, my
wonderful parents took the "Valley Porter" family out for breakfast at
Golden Corral. It was super yummy, but Curt couldn't make it because he
had to work. (There is always someon messing up their computer). I
really enjoyed hanging out with my family. We don't get to do it often.
For Christmas Eve, we went to the Airplane field. Yeah, we gave into
Curt and stopped by the field. But then went home for dinner and then
went to the Temple to see the lights and the Nativity display.
We got home so late, we didn't get a chance to do the "hall block".

I finished the evening (eary morning) up and went to bed, but not without putting up a few roadblocks for the kids. I closed their doors (which I never do) and made them watch "Joy to the World" from the Ensign a few years back. I told them that before they started in on their presents, they had to remember the real reason we celebrate Christmas. They weren't even allowed to wake us up until after the movie was over and there was going to be a small quiz. (We've also watched Mr. Krueger's Christmas and a Christmas Carol this year, we felt it was important.)

We got a Wii and a couple of games. It's nice to do one big family gift and a few small gifts, we really don't have the room for lots of extras.

The kids loved Christmas Morning and after that, we headed up to Globe
for the Afternoon/Evening. A lot ofhte kids have Nintendo DSs, so 7 of
them hung around in one area and played MarioKart until it was time to
eat. WE came home later that night. Curt had to work on Friday and I
had to watch kids, so I packed my 3, the 3 kids I was watching and headed over to Gena's. She is teaching me how to Crochet.

Saturday, I spent the morning putting together games for my sis-in-law, Julie's baby shower. We had a good time.

Sunday, after church, we headed back up to Globe again for Curt's niece and nephew's baptisms. I can't believe the twins are 8! Congrats to B and S on their baptisms. I played the piano for a musical number that my SILs sang. It sounded beautiful, even when J started tearing up. D did a nice job dunking those kids!

Since then, I have felt super yucky with a head cold.

Curt's brother, Jordan, came over for his haircut on Tuesday and they had a nice little battle on Star Wars Unleashed. It was pretty funny to watch, so I taped a little of it for you.

Last night for New Year's Eve, we headed to Gena's once again for a nice little get together where I enjoyed Doug's super "YUMM-O" :) buffalo cheese dip. They taught me how to play Farkle and chat with Gena and Mere. We got home at 1:30, so I am still a little tired.

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas! I am looking forward to attempting to achieve my goals this next year. I'll save that for a different posting.
